WebClient

Default Description:

Enables Windows-based programs to create, access, and modify Internet-based files. If this service is stopped, these functions will not be available. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

Additional Information:

I have not found a reason to have this service running. For security reasons, I recommend for this service to be disabled. If some MS products, such as MSN Explorer, Media Player, NetMeeting or Messenger fail to provide a particular function, try to enable this service to see if it is "required" for your configuration. Developers using WebDAV may also need this for connectivity. This service may also be responsible for clicking on hyperlinks embedded within applications, such as in email clients to open up a new window.
